Kaunas Jewish Cemetery Records List from 1965 - 2006.

During April 2006, I visited an office in Kaunas, where they keep cemetery records from all the cemeteries in Kaunas. For the Jewish records they only have records for the Jews who died in Kaunas during 1965 and later. All other Jewish cemetery records are either missing or destroyed. The Jewish records that they have, are recorded in 2 books, one line per person. I took digital photos of more than 50 pages from these two books. Some pages only had a few entries.

Cemetery Office is:

KAPINIU PRIEZIUROS KONTORA
DONELAICIO G-VE 70
KAUNAS

Lady who helped me was Irena Dekaminaviciene

The photos or images of the pages can be viewed in 4 different formats.

I suggest you use F11 on your browser to turn FULL SCREEN on and off to best view this web site. Also Internet Explorer seems to work much better that some of the other browsers. You can also use Ctrl+ on your browser to increase the size of the text or Ctrl- to decrease the size of the text.

FORMAT 1. Originally the photos will be displayed as thumbnails, with a maximum of 15 thumbnails in any web page. For folders that have more than 15 photos, use the top right hand corner or the left and right arrows, to switch to other thumbnail pages.

FORMAT 2. Click on any thumbnail to increase the size of the image to view it as a slide. Use the forward and back arrows and icons on the top to browse through all the images in slide format.

FORMAT 3. To view an enlarged version of any slide, click on the small blue arrow next to the right bottom corner of the slide. You can download this version to your computer for printing. With Internet Explorer you can use Ctrl+ on your browser to increase the size of the image or Ctrl- to decrease the size of the image.

FORMAT 4. Try not to use this option but use Format 3 above instead. If you click on any slide it will open an enlarged version of the photo on a new page on your browser. You can download this version to your computer for printing, which has the same resolution as format 3 above.

PLEASE EXPERIMENT by clicking on the various arrows and icons to browse through the photos, and to view any particular photo in various formats and sizes.

Above all, be patient and allow the images to download.
